May 29, 2024

BATON ROUGE, LA – MMR is proud to announce its receipt of the Outstanding Corporate Growth Award from the ACG Louisiana Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG). MMR was honored at the 15th Annual ACG Louisiana Awards, held in New Orleans, La., on Wednesday, May 22.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition, which is a testament to the drive, passion and collaborative talent of our people,” said MMR President/CEO James B. ‘Pepper’ Rutland. “From humble beginnings, we have grown to become the largest privately-owned electrical contractor in the nation, and we remain committed to upholding the same traditions and principles that have shaped our company for years to come."

The ACG Louisiana Awards recognize growth companies, business professionals and noteworthy transactions throughout the state of Louisiana. Attendees enjoyed a networking cocktail reception held at The Roosevelt Hotel, followed by a seated dinner and awards program.

With eight employees, MMR was founded in 1991 as a single office in Louisiana’s capital and has grown to become the largest open-shop electrical and instrumentation contractor in the nation. Under Rutland's leadership, MMR has continued its tradition of success for over thirty years, expanding to 7,500 employees over 30 offices throughout North and South America and performing work in over 45 countries spanning four continents.

ACG Louisiana's Outstanding Growth Award is presented to a company with sustained growth in sales, profitability, and employment, as well as a resolved commitment to community involvement. With revenues of $1.33 billion in 2023, including over $223 million in Louisiana-based projects, MMR has seen a steady growth in revenue of over 70 percent in the last five years. Engineering-News Record has consistently recognized MMR on its Top Specialty Contractors list as the largest electrical contractor in the region and largest specialty contractor in Louisiana.

MMR has garnered national recognition in recent years and attributes much of its success to the drive to pursue new market endeavors in the mission-critical construction/data centers, the semiconductor industry, automobile manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, steel, mining and metals. In 2023, MMR received national recognition from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for two Eagle Level Awards, the highest honor a project can achieve, for its Dow LAO – Frigate Project in Plaquemine and its work on the ExxonMobil – Mississippi River Feeder Installation Project in Baton Rouge.

MMR is passionate about people and strives to enhance the communities in which it operates. As a corporate sponsor of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, MMR supports the On-the-Go Program to provide on-site, physician-led cancer education sessions and cancer screenings conducted at the MMR workplace. MMR also supports other initiatives in its community such as supporting breast cancer awareness through Woman’s Hospital, aiding Our Lady of the Lake’s Children’s Hospital in providing child-life specialists and temporary living assistance for displaced families with children undergoing treatment.
