20 Safe and Sound

“Leadership’s attitude toward safety and health is reflected in the employees and their safety performance,” said OSHA Compliance Assistance Specialist Marianne McGee. “This week is a great opportunity to re-focus your sights on safety in the workplace by getting leadership and employees involved. Recently much attention has been given to the pandemic, but it is critical to remember other hazards like falls, struck-by, caught-in/between and electrical.”

Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales signed a proclamation to recognize the importance of workplace health and safety. Present for the signing were Leonard Garza and Terry Fisher (MMR and ASSP), Marianne McGee (OSHA), Yvonne Garza (Occucare) and Jane Gimler (ABC-TCB).

MMR's Corpus Christi District holds OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star status which is considered the pinnacle of excellence in safety. Of the 76,000 electrical contractors in the nation, MMR is one of 12 that can claim VPP status. MMR is the largest open-shop contractor with VPP standing and has upheld its star status since 2013.
