MMR President/CEO Discusses Labor Demands in 10/12 Industry Report

May 2, 2024

BATON ROUGE, LA – MMR President/CEO James B. “Pepper” Rutland was featured in the Spring 2024 edition of 10/12 Industry Report, discussing the recent industrial construction surge following the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting labor demands.

“Projects that were put on hold were restarted, and new markets emerged. And it’s continuing in most of the sectors that we’re in—industrial manufacturing and ‘mission critical’ work,” said Rutland. “All those sectors seem to be in the same general mood. We don’t see that slowing down at all, at least for the next five to six years.”

The feature highlights increased needs for craft personnel as nontraditional construction projects emerge across South Louisiana, including Venture Global’s Plaquemines LNG site in Plaquemines Parish. MMR boasts a craft workforce of 7,000, with around 1,000 employees onsite at Plaquemines LNG. As the nationwide industrial construction surge persists, MMR continues to grow and attract its craft workforce to meet intense labor demands.
