MMR Offers Employees On-Site Skin Cancer Screenings in Partnership with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Expands Opportunity to District Offices

BATON ROUGE, La. – MMR offered on-site skin cancer screenings to employees at its Belle Chasse, Broussard and Baton Rouge offices through the Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center’s Prevention on the Go – Workplace Program.

Area dermatologists, who work with the Prevention on the Go Program, screened 93 MMR employees for skin cancer, of which more than half had never received a screening before. Employees who had abnormal findings were referred to a specialty clinic and assisted by a nurse navigator to receive appropriate care.

MMR has participated in the Mary Bird Perkins Prevention on the Go – Workplace Program since 2018 and has provided skin cancer, breast cancer and oral cancer screenings and education to its employees. After receiving an overwhelming response from employees about previous screenings at the Baton Rouge Headquarters office, MMR decided to expand this opportunity to two district offices in Belle Chasse and Broussard, Louisiana.
