MMR Receives Highest Honors at ABC Bayou/New Orleans Chapter Awards of Excellence

BATON ROUGE, La. – MMR was honored with several top awards at the annual Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) Excellence in Construction Awards program for the New Orleans/Bayou chapter. ABC Awards of Excellence recognizes contractors who have exceeded expectations in innovation, quality, safety, complexity, unique challenges overcome, completion time, and cost for projects completed.

BASF Geismar 700 Bus Replacement Project in Geismar, La.ABC Excellence Award, Electrical Industrial, $2 million to $10 million

• MMR provided electrical and instrumentation services in addition to construction management, execution and commissioning assistance on the BASF Geismar 700 Bus Replacement Project in Geismar, La.• The project objective was to provide backup power to 4 existing substations, replacing aging and obsolete switchgear, installing redundant power feeders to mitigate the inherent risk of legacy underground feeder failures. The infrastructure included a cable tray system spanning roughly a 60-acre area and included multiple buildings and pipe racks located inside of BASF’s 2,300-acre facility.

Olefin Flare Gas Recovery Project/Shell Deep Park in Deer Park, TexasABC Excellence Award, Electrical Industrial, Less than $10 million

• The Shell Deer Park Olefins Flare Gas Recover Project was an EPA regulated project to only to reduce emissions of air pollutants while saving energy and raw materials.• MMR was contracted to perform all the electrical and instrumentation scope for the project as well as start-up and assistance. In total, MMR installed 20,230 feet of conduit, 90,940 feet of electrical cable, 9,800 cable terminations and 160 light fixtures.

ABC STEP Diamond Award

• ABC created the Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) recognize ABC member companies who consistently excel in the field of safety and provide an evaluation tool to evaluate safety training programs by using 20 standard “key components” of safety. Each key component focuses on specific safety and training areas essential to a successful, effective safety training program. The program highlights not only a company’s safety and training successes, but also helps to identify areas where companies can improve their efforts to build a stronger safety program.

• There are six levels of achievement in the STEP program, including Participant, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and STEP Diamond. MMR is proud to receive the highest Diamond status.
