MMR Receives Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance 2019 Craft Workforce Development Merit Award

October 1, 2019

BATON ROUGE, La. – MMR was honored with a Craft Workforce Development Merit Award presented by the Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance (GBRIA) at the 12th Annual Craft Workforce Development Awards Banquet.

“MMR is proud to be recognized for its dedication to a safety-conscious and hardworking craft workforce,” said MMR President and CEO James “Pepper” Rutland. “Our NCCER-accredited Craft Training Program allows us to remain on the cutting-edge of training and workforce development initiatives and ensures our employees deliver the highest level or safety and quality to our clients.”

The GBRIA awards program recognizes contractors who invest in workforce development programs that include recruitment, assessment, training, career path development and retention of employees. MMR received a 2019 Merit Award in the Hard Craft (Specialty Trade), Division III category. This category acknowledges contractors who demonstrate a commitment to support the development of a safe, capable and motivated craft workforce.

In 2014, MMR established a one-of-a-kind Craft Training Center to propel its certified craftsmen ahead of the projected industry manpower shortages. The Craft Training Center offers an Electrical Journeyworker Apprenticeship training program, recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and the State of Louisiana, as well as NCCER “Knowledge Verified”, NCCER “Performance Verified,” and “MMR Verified” certifications.

MMR would like to congratulate West Feliciana High School on winning the overall outstanding performance award and West Feliciana Agriscience/FFA Instructor Dr. Paul Theriot, who was recognized for being an outstanding workforce educator. In conjunction with the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Pelican Chapter, MMR sponsors high schools, which includes West Feliciana, by providing mentorship, education, training and curriculum development.
