MMR Receives Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance 2015 Craft Workforce Development Award

BATON ROUGE, La. – MMR was honored with a 2015 Craft Workforce Development Award presented by the Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance (GBRIA) at a reception held at Renaissance Baton Rouge on September 10.

In its eighth year, the GBRIA awards program recognizes and rewards contractors who invest in workforce development programs that include recruitment, assessment, training, career path development and retention of employees. Nominations are received by company clients such as BASF, The Dow Chemical Company, ExxonMobil, Shell Chemical and more.

MMR received the 2015 Merit Award in the Hard Craft (Specialty Trade), Division III Size category. This category recognizes contractors who demonstrate a commitment to support development of a safe, capable and motivated contract craft workforce.

“I am extremely proud to provide an advanced training program for our craftsmen,” said MMR President and CEO Pepper Rutland. “Our nationally recognized program is not only designed to equip MMR personnel with the tools needed to excel in this industry, but to provide our clients with the highest level of safety, service and quality through an expertly trained workforce.”

In 2014, MMR established a Craft Training Center to propel its certified craftsmen ahead of the projected industry manpower shortages. The Craft Training Center offers an Electrical Journeyworker Apprenticeship training program, recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and the State of Louisiana, as well as NCCER “Knowledge Verified”, NCCER “Performance Verified,” and “MMR Verified” certifications.

MMR has served as the industry leader in instrumentation and electrical construction, maintenance and technical services for more than 50 years. Headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, MMR continues to grow both regionally and nationally with 23 branch offices throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Colombia, Trinidad, Venezuela and Ecuador.
