MMR Receives GBRIA Specialty Trade Award of Excellence for Investment in Local Workforce Development Programs

BATON ROUGE, La.—The Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance, Inc. (GBRIA) presented MMR with its Specialty Trade (Hard Craft) Award of Excellence at the 14th Annual Craft Workforce Development Awards Banquet, held on Dec. 7, 2021.

The GBRIA Craft Workforce Development Awards program honors individuals and organizations that demonstrate excellence in investing in workforce development programs. GBRIA also serves as a benchmarking program designed to promote best practices to improve the skills and retention of craft personnel in the region. GBRIA recognizes and rewards contractors, member plants, schools, educators and other individuals who contribute to the recruitment, assessment, training, career path education and retention efforts.

MMR remains dedicated to training and developing a highly skilled craft workforce and has established a one-of-a-kind Craft Training Center to propel its certified craftsmen ahead of the projected industry manpower shortages. The Craft Training Center offers an Electrical Journeyworker Apprenticeship training program, recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and the State of Louisiana, NCCER “Knowledge” and “Performance” verified certifications as well as MMR and vendor certifications.

MMR would like to congratulate its West Feliciana High School for receiving the Division I Award of Excellence and St. Michael the Archangel High School for receiving the Division II Award of Recognition, as well as Dr. Paul Theriot of West Feliciana High School for receiving the GBRIA High School Craft Workforce Development Champion award. MMR is a sponsor of both West Feliciana and St. Michael through the Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC), providing its students and faculty with mentorship, education, training and curriculum development.
