MMR Receives Five Chapter Awards at ABC’s Awards of Excellence

BATON ROUGE, La. – MMR was recognized for its outstanding efforts on two notable projects at the annual Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) Excellence in Construction Awards programs for the Greater Houston, Baton Rouge/Pelican and New Orleans/Bayou chapters. ABC Awards of Excellence recognizes contractors who have exceeded expectations in innovation, quality, safety, complexity, unique challenges overcome, completion time, and cost for projects completed.
Bunge North America Dock Expansion Project

The scope of the Bunge North America Dock Expansion Project was to build a new grain shipping system, including a new outbound conveyor system, foundations, dock, associated marine works and electrical and instrumentation installation.
As the electrical and instrumentation subcontractor on the project, MMR installed 110 thousand feet of conduit, 505 thousand feet of cable, 6 MCC units, 21 switch gears, 8 transformers, 16 PLC panels and 352 light fixtures.
IFCo (Nitrogen Fertilizer Company) Nitrogen Fertilizer Project

The IFCo Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant, located in Wever, Ia., is one of the largest fertilizer plants in the world at over 1.5 million metric tons of products produced each year. The $3.7 billion project included an ammonia plant, nitric acid plant, UAN plant, product storage and loading facilities and an OSBL facility.
MMR was responsible for successfully executing the pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities for all disciplines of construction on the project. Upon successful start-up, MMR stayed on to support operations, assist in training and help the plant develop maintenance and reliability plans.
The Bunge North America Dock Expansion Project and the IFCo Nitrogen Fertilizer Project will move on to compete at the ABC National Excellence in Construction Awards Program on March 21 in Long Beach, Ca.
