MMR Honored at the 2015 ABC New Orleans/Bayou Chapter Awards Gala

BATON ROUGE, La. – MMR took home several awards at the annual Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) Excellence in Construction Awards Program for the New Orleans/Bayou Chapter held on November 19, 2015 at the Hilton New Orleans Airport in Kenner, La.

MMR was honored with the 2015 Excellence Award for its work on the BASF Solitaire Project/BASF Geismar Surfactants Plant Expansion in Geismar, La. The BASF Solitaire project will increase production of the facility’s chemical line by adding product volume and installing a new automatic drumming line. MMR was tasked with installing 115 miles of electrical cables across the 26-acre complex in addition to lighting protection, wire pulls, fin fan coolers, fire protection and electrical and instrumentation work on the facility’s main power distribution building. The 18-month long project was successfully completed by a crew of approximately 110 employees without any recordable injuries.

MMR also received the Gold Award for its work on the Chevron Big Foot Topside Construction and Integration/Chevron N.A. Exploration and Production in Ingleside, Texas. Big Foot is the largest tension leg oil platform ever developed for the Gulf of Mexico, standing 40 stories tall and operating in 5,300 feet of water. The platform is expected to produce 75 thousand barrels of oil and 25 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. MMR provided electrical and instrumentation services on the project, which included installing 1.7 million feet of cable, 119 thousand feet of tubing and performing approximately 55 thousand field terminations. At its peak, MMR employed a crew of 630 workers who successfully completed 2.5 million manhours with a total recordable incident rate of 0.12.
