MMR Employees Receive SASOL Silver Coin Awards for Safety

BATON ROUGE, La. – MMR is proud to announce that five of its employees were recognized for exemplary safety actions on the SASOL LCCP Mega Project in Westlake, La. These employees were honored through Sasol’s Silver Coin Awards Program.

SASOL’s Silver Coin Awards Program recognizes individuals who demonstrate behaviors which sustain the vision of zero harm to employees and who strive for a zero incident project.

Brenda Narvaez, an MMR Foreman, reported to the Sasol Emergency Response Team (ERT) that an MMR employee was in sudden Cardiac Arrest. While Brenda was on the phone with ERT, David Hicks and Glen Schexnayder performed lifesaving CPR. Another MMR Safety Technician, Chae Burns, aided in CPR and kept the area clear until first responders arrived.

“MMR would like to thank these employees for their heroic safety efforts,” said MMR President/CEO James “Pepper” Rutland. “Their actions exemplify our ultimate commitment to creating a safety-minded culture here at MMR.”

SASOL’s Sliver Coin Award recognizes individuals for outstanding safety achievements in the work place. Four different versions of this coin will be minted, each with a unique design reflecting the southwest Louisiana environment.
