MMR University Interns Gain Valuable Field Experience

September 8, 2025

MMR University (MMR-U) continues its mission of bridging academic foundations with real-world construction and engineering applications by sending their interns to spend 10-12 weeks on job sites spanning various project industries.

This summer, 29 interns were located across the United States, including Clarksville, TN; Columbus, OH; Florence, SC; Plain City, OH; Jackson, MS; Lancaster, OH; and Salt Lake City, UT.

During their time in the field, interns were each strategically placed with a seasoned professional to help guide them through day-to-day tasks and safety protocols. Many interns shared the helpful tips and lessons they learned from their mentors.

  • Intern Nathan Vitale shares, “My mentors taught me how to create relationships with coworkers and employees. It showed me valuable leadership skills help for a successful project.”
  • Intern Colleen Angelle remarks that “hands-on learning is the best way to learn,” reflecting just how invaluable field rotations can be.

Interns gained comprehensive knowledge in field and office operations. In the field, they helped install cable trays, pulled wires, and bent conduit. They produced reports, prepared change orders, and completed bubble sheets. They also got to experience the leadership side of making project schedules, observing jobsite activities, and attending client meetings.
