MMR Launches Online Training & Development Initiative, MMRTV Provides Workforce with Anytime, Anywhere Instruction

February 1, 2022

BATON ROUGE, La.— MMR is excited to announce the relaunch of MMRTV, an enhancement of its workforce development initiative to provide employee training and assessment by bringing its resources online with a new digital mobile platform.

“MMR is on the pulse of delivering unique employee benefits and initiatives to cultivate the industry’s most well-trained workforce,” said MMR President/CEO James B. “Pepper” Rutland. “MMRTV is our newest example of providing employee training that will improve user experience and performance by providing anywhere, anytime access.”

MMRTV is an online training portal specifically designed to enhance employee knowledge, for both craft and staff personnel, by allowing them to learn anywhere there is internet availability. The multilingual courses are flexible and use internet technology solutions to deliver easily accessible learning tools to MMR’s employees around the globe.

Employee access to the platform is permission based and tailored to fit that employee’s job title or role. Classes range from employee onboarding to crucial safety instruction, specific tool usage, acceptable installations, quality audits and inspections, billing, timekeeping and more. The curriculum also introduces soft skills such as leadership introduction and development and includes online skill assessments and interactive quizzes.

Consolidating MMR’s curriculum into a single platform provides for more streamlined recordkeeping and accountability. It allows managers to better monitor employee performance and evaluate “the right employee, for the right job” when determining project placement based upon skill. MMRTV also provides managers with a baseline to evaluate employee performance for recognition and potential advancement. Lastly, MMRTV is an important tool for MMR’s employees to help achieve their personal career goals.

The concept of MMRTV was born in the MMR Corpus Christi district office in 2015 with a focus on material installation videos. Below are some key highlights from its early progression to relaunch:

  • Over 250 videos uploaded with plans to upload 50 more by the end of 2022
  • Approximately 8,000 employee views since 2015 with plans to add another 2,000 – 3,000 views by the end of 2022
  • Approximately 80 tablets positioned on various jobsites with plan to increase as MMR continues its pursuit of going paperless

MMR is proud to lead the industry in advanced training and initiatives. In 2014, MMR developed its unique Craft Training Center, redefining the industry standard of qualified craftspersons and supervisors. The state-of-the-art, 15,000-foot center offers training to those that fill the role of front-line supervision as well as craft personnel in the field. While other contractors rely on third-party vendors to certify their craftspersons, MMR empowers our employees with safety, quality, and in-house instruction.

The MMR Craft Training Center is recognized by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) as an Accredited Assessment Center and Accredited Training Sponsor.

The comprehensive 40-hour US Department of Labor and State of Louisiana apprenticeship approved program enables craftsmen to receive instruction and hands-on training as well as assessing their electrical and/or instrumentation knowledge and skills.

In an everchanging world, and particularly since the introduction of COVID, MMR has diligently worked to advance its programs and improve user knowledge and experience through a concentrated online presence. Additional highlights have included developing an employee application to support MMR’s Construction Management System to effectively measure key performance indicators and the introduction of MMR’s Human Resources Kiosk Web Portal, allowing employees to complete onboarding paperwork digitally at home or in the office.

MMR plans to roll-out MMRTV in the first quarter of 2022 to its 30 district offices located around the globe, training managers and employees how to effectively utilize the system.
