MMR Employees Support Military Hero Hunt for Wounded Veterans
December 2, 2015
Six war veterans, wounded in combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, enjoyed a weekend of hunting and comradery at the Third Annual Military Hero Hunt in Karnes County, Texas, on September 17-19, 2015. The event was organized by MMR employees Randy Pawelek and Jim Guidry and supported by local community members and businesses.
The Afghanistan/Iraq War veterans, which included Sgt. David Guzman, Sgt. David Baldenegro, Sgt. Robert Ochoa, Sgt. Curtis Johnson, Sgt. James Ford and Sgt. Justin Pullin, were treated to a fun weekend of dove hunting, skeet shooting, door prizes, food and fellowship at Paweleks 877-acre ranch.
I am blessed to have so many friends and family that came out and helped put this third annual hunt on for these courageous military men, said Randy Pawelek, who owns the ranch with his wife, Debbie. Our time out of our busy schedules is nothing compared to what these guys have been through and what they have personally sacrificed. Thank a veteran every chance you get for your freedom.
More Americans should spend one-on-one time with the veterans of todays war and of our past wars, said Jim Guidry, one of the main organizers and supporters of the annual event. For this is one of the only ways, I believe, people can appreciate the sacrifices that these young men and women have paid for the American Dream with their flesh and bones, pain and suffering.
This is my third year helping put on this wonderful event, and every year Im blown away by the young men that show up for this weekend. I see these young men with all their disabilities and the pain and suffering they have gone through just to get back to a normal life. It makes me realize how blessed we all are as a nation. I will never be able to repay these young men and women for all their sacrifices that they have made. However, I can show them that there are many Americans that are very grateful for what they have given for our freedoms.
