MMR Craft Training Center Highlighted in NCCER Publication

January 29, 2018

BATON ROUGE, La. – The MMR Craft Training Center was recently featured in The Cornerstone, the official publication of The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), for its use of NCCER practices and procedures to deliver a top-notch, comprehensive craft training program.

“Not only does NCCER set the benchmark for training and evaluating craft professionals in our industry, but it reassures our clients of the quality personnel and work product they’ve come to expect from MMR,” said MMR President/CEO James “Pepper” Rutland.

In 2014, MMR established a Craft Training Center to propel its certified craftsmen ahead of the projected industry manpower shortages. The 15,000 square-foot-facility features a state-of-the-art classroom and 29 work stations where craftsmen experience hands-on training and evaluation of their electrical and instrumentation knowledge and skills.

The Center is considered one-of-a-kind in its industry with the ability to train and evaluate MMR employees in-house rather than sending them to a third-party vendor. In 2017, MMR received final NCCER approval as an Accredited Training Sponsor and Accredited Assessment Center, using NCCER practices and standards to set a baseline when evaluating the skill level of current and incoming employees.

“There are not a lot of training and assessment programs out there for industrial contractors,” MMR Craft Training Coordinator and Master Instructor Richard Sanders. “We would not have developed our program without the NCCER base.”
