OVER 15 YEARS EXPERIENCE AND 10 ONSITE POWER PROJECTS, TOTALING 23MW

Since flipping the switch on its first projects in the Fresno area, MMR Power Solutions has built or operated 10 onsite power projects, totaling 23MW, for clients throughout California. With a proven track record of success, MMR Power Solutions provides energy solutions for large commercial and industrial companies seeking greater energy security.

Power Solutions Ralphs Project

Featured Project

Ralphs Grocery Biogas Generator Project

Compton, CA

MMR was selected by waste-recovery developer Divert Inc. for the engineering, design and construction of a new 1.2MW biogas-fired generator plant and backup flare for the Kroger Company’s Ralphs Grocery central distribution plant in Compton, CA. The Compton plant collects food waste from Ralphs grocery stores throughout southern California and uses the resulting anerobic digestion to produce biogas for renewable electrical generation. The previous microturbine generators failed to operate reliably and flaring the biogas caused Ralphs to exceed its air permit limits. MMR installed a new, more efficient flare, a biogas generator and gas blending skid allowing Ralphs to produce roughly 20% of its power onsite while reducing flare emissions to achieve its air permit limits.

As the prime contractor, MMR was responsible for the engineering and all civil, mechanical and electrical construction. MMR also lead the electrical interconnection approval with Southern California Edison (SCE) and permitting approval with the City of Compton. The generator installation required mobilizing a crane with a 300-foot boom to lift the 40-ton genset container. The project was completed safely and the genset commissioned in October 2021.

Cedar engine

Featured Project

Wawona Cedar 4.8MW Microgrid Project

Fresno, CA

MMR completed the development, engineering, procurement and construction of a 4.8MW cogeneration microgrid power plant for Wawona Frozen Foods at its Cedar manufacturing site in Fresno, CA. The project consisted of 3 x 1.6MW Caterpillar engines, a 1.25MW / 670kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), a 125kW solar PV system and an absorption chiller for augmentation of onsite cold storage. The project also incorporated the FlexGen HybridOS microgrid controller to regulate the various components. The project was commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2020.

MMR Power Solutions owns and operates the microgrid plant while selling power and thermal energy to Wawona under a long-term Energy Services Agreement (ESA) contract.

Wawona Alluvial 2.4MW Cogeneration Plant

Featured Project

Wawona Alluvial 2.4MW Cogeneration Plant

Clovis, CA

MMR was responsible for the development, engineering, procurement and construction of a 2.4MW natural gas-fired cogeneration repower plant for Wawona Frozen Foods at its Alluvial manufacturing facility in Clovis, CA. The project repowered an existing 2.4MW reciprocating engine plant. MMR installed 2 x 1.2MW Caterpillar engines with a super-capacitor-based energy conditioner and a small solar PV system to reduce utility demand charges. The thermal recovery system provides low-pressure steam and hot water to increase overall plant efficiency. Additional scope of work included reconfiguring Wawona’s electrical infrastructure to consolidate the utility electrical feeds resulting in additional savings. The project was successfully completed in November 2015.

MMR Power Solutions owns and operates the cogeneration plant while selling power and thermal energy to Wawona under a long-term Energy Services Agreement (ESA) contract.
