MMR Takes Home Four Project Awards at the ABC Excellence in Construction Awards Program for the New Orleans/Bayou Chapter
Friday, December 2, 2016
BATON ROUGE, La. MMR was recognized for its outstanding efforts on four notable projects at the annual Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) Excellence in Construction Awards Program for the New Orleans/Bayou Chapter. The program recognizes contractors who have exceeded expectations in innovation, quality, safety, complexity, unique challenges overcome, completion time, and cost for projects completed.
The following MMR projects received an Award of Excellence in the Electrical/Industrial: More than $10 Million category:
CF Industries NA/UAC Expansion Project
The $320 million CF Industries NA/UAC Expansion Project in Donaldsonville, La. will increase the plants production of nitrogen from 5 million tons to 6.7 million tons annually.
MMR was selected to install all electrical components and perform integration of all electrical systems on the NA/UAN expansion portion of the project. Over the projects duration, MMR installed 31 miles of conduit, 175 miles of cable and 13 miles of aluminum cable tray in elevated structures.
El Dorado Chemical Company (EDC) Expansion Project
El Dorado Chemical Company(EDC) produces a variety of agrochemical and industrial products including regular nitric acid and concentrated nitric acid, mixed (nitrating) acids, sulfuric acid, and both agricultural and industrial grade ammonium nitrate.
MMR provided labor, material and equipment for the electrical and instrumentation scope of the facility expansion and was also awarded the Electrical Testing Contract. Over the course of the $831 million project, MMR installed 881 light fixtures, 354 pieces of electrical equipment and 13 MV transformers.
UOP Honeywell Line 4 Electrical & Instrumentation Project
UOP Honeywell opened a new production line at its catalyst manufacturing facility in Shreveport, La. The new production line will manufacture catalysts for hydroprocessing, which removes impurities from fractionated crude oil and also makes transportation fuels.
MMRs primary scope of work included power and controls, instrumentation, lighting and receptacles, heat tracing, temporary power, a fire alarm system, and grounding and lighting protection. MMR successfully completed the project in approximately 164,000 work hours without a single recordable injury.
Additionally, MMR was recognized with a Merit Award in the Electrical/Industrial: $2 Million to $10 Million category:
Pilot Monell CO2 Flex Plant
The Pilot Monell CO2 Flex Plant uses a new and unique process designed to extract Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) in CO2 recycle streams. This ultimately provides producers a very economical alternative to recover NGLs by reducing operating costs to less than half of standard technologies used in the past.
MMR performed electrical and instrumentation services at the new Pilot Monell CO2 Flex Plant. One unique project challenge MMR faced successfully overcame involved installing approximately 3/4 of a mile of direct burial high voltage cable crossing under 12 buried Natural Gas Lines.
